Me and three mates are staying at the Rila in Borovets from the 10th Jan to the 17th. We haven't got any Lev yet and was wondering what is a good exchange rate? I don't think we'll arrive in borovets til after the banks close. Does anyone know where we could get some cash changed up so we can have a few beers on the first night when we arrive??
2.8 levs to £1 is GOOD and about the actual rate
don't forget there may be charges to change so you will get a lower rate. I'd say anything 2.5 or above is ok. Depends how much money you change tbh.
Anywhere in the vacinity of 2.8 lev to the GBP is an excellent rate. Anything above that beware, you may be dealing with a conman.
Stick to the well known places like hotel receptions or high street banks.
NEVER CHANGE MONEY WITH STRANGERS OR AT MONEY BOOTHS, no matter what rate they offer.
No the Gondola lift is near the hotel Samokov. It is the big one that takes you right up to the top of the mountains. There is a hole in the wall machine there. I dont know if/what it charges you yet because I havent had a statement since Ive been back. You can get a max of 200 levs at a time.
That will be enough for your first night when you arrive, unless you are George Best.
Exchange Plus across from Rila is recommended by Airtours and gives you exact price. You will get more lev for Pound here than at bank, credit card or hotel.
To be exact hotel is 2.4. and never gives lower cirrency (no area likes taking 50's) and hotel des not give me 1 or 2's so was given a less lev tha should have got.
