Hi all
Got back last night from Borovets. What a week!! We stayed in the Chalets behind the Samokov. I would recommend them as they are good value, very comfortable and have all that you need in them, even a cooker (not that I was going to cook!!), TV, DVD player, CD player etc. When we got there on Boxing day the snow cover was not brilliant but we managed some skiing on Monday. Tuesday was awful, it rained all day and what snow there was quickly turned to slush so we did not ski ...

I would recommend them as they are good value, very comfortable and have all that you need in them, even a cooker (not that I was going to cook!!), TV, DVD player, CD player etc. When we got there on Boxing day the snow cover was not brilliant but we managed some skiing on Monday. Tuesday was awful, it rained all day and what snow there was quickly turned to slush so we did not ski that day. Then Wednesday the snow began and it carried on all day and night and we went to the top of the Gondola where conditions were good. From then on skiing was fine though when we left yesterday more snow was forecast which was needed on the bottom slopes.
Eating out, we went to the usual haunts, White Magic, Happy Duck, Marmacitas, La Bomba (best hot chocolate) and you have to try the garlic bread there!!! Comes out looking like a Cornish Pasty!! Yummy!!
We had a good week and were lucky with the snow as it started late this season. People in the Chalet behind us came out on the 17th and they said there was nothing when they first got there.
Our kids enjoyed themselves, our neice was a first timer and done really well considering the instructor we had was not that good. He knew his stuff but would not listen to us and talked far too much rather than ski!! We have had lessons from the Samokov before and they were brilliant and up for a laugh and made the lessons enjoyable. This instructor was from a different school and I must admit I didn't really progress with my skiing as much as I would have liked.
Still, we are going back in February after half term with no kids in tow. Staying in the Samokov with six adults, should be a laugh!!
Anyway, I am sure the snow will get a lot better and am looking forward to our nest visit!!

Hi SteveThere were four of us and I reckon we spent about £600 but £200 was on two pairs of ski boots. We ate out all the time. So I reckon thats not too bad??

Yes. 2 adults and 2 children. Didn't spend that much on booze though (tragic eh?)That was breakfast, lunch and tea, DVD's, CD's and two pairs of trainers...........
