Take board off feet. Hold board tightly in hands. Shuffle forward with the crowd. wait till lift hits you in back of legs then sit down. Not before otherwise you look a pillock. Pull bar down sit back and relax. As chairlift nears the end lift bar up and be ready to exit the chair. Plant feet firmly on ground and lift yourself up and move out of way quickly. Put board back on feet and away you go.
Don't bother taking your board off, simply unattach the rear bindings and sort of slide walk along the queue, once the chair hits you in the arse, sit down pull down the bar & place the board upon one of the supports, when reaching the end, remove the board from the support then place your board on the ground & push off the chair with your hands then slide to the nearest place where you can attach the rear binding then happy days
Tommo is right, just take your boot out of your rear binding - get a stomp pad for your board to help your unbinded foot grip it when getting off - piece of cake!
I took my board off - mainly because it was the first chair lift i'd been on, only just learnt to snowboard and didnt want to look a complete muppet!!!
They're quite easy to get the hang of - just make sure you get off and out the way quickly!
