Have booked 1 week in Borovets 4th Jan.Problem, 3 weeks ago I got a chipped knee playing football.Have got orthopaedic appt on 7th Dec, but this probably wont result in anything till the new year. Question; Am I going to be able to ski? Can anyone offer some advice?sensible!! I dont want to let anyone down by cancelling, however, dont want to be a burden on the slopes. Is there a happy solution for me?
Have a cartilage problem with my knees which made me have to pack up football but ski with a proper support for skiing which has a knee hinge and supports up the side. A good one will cost around 50 quid but is well worth the money. If you get one get a wrap around as you can get them on and off easier without having to strip . I ski all day with mine on but if I didnt have it I wouldnt last five minutes

Further to the above my support is a McDavid but Mueller are as good but dont be tempted to go for the cheaper models as they do not give the support.

when you have an injury like yours it is a question of feeling confident, My Mrs did her knee ligaments 'in' on her first day, but she went out and bought a serious bit of kit exactly like the previous comments, elasticated support but with the metal hinges down either side, she had to take it steady but she skied the last few days.
With a chipped knee you might get away with a very good elasticated support bandages
Is the bone chip floating ??? A fracture will have healed enough for you to ski by the time you go, but a bone chip will remain until removed, or repaired (less likely)..
It boils down to whether you have pain, or an amount of swelling, both of which can be countered with anti-imflamatries/pain killers...and how much you want it, skiing that is
The supports mentioned are great for confidence, keeping the joint warm and flexible.. but actually offer little medically...

I displaced two vertabrae in my lower back many years ago in a mogal comp, the hospital advice (UK) was to weld the three lower vertabrae, which would have stopped my skiing completely, i declined their advice and sought alternative treatment, 9 months of intensive physio and manipulation righted said problem and nothing since (20 yrs +)... The docs not always right
