Just got the bike back from the shop - disc brakes rehydraukicked, front shocks fully rockshocked - next challenge - across to the Lakes and try some of that top of the mountain biking - massive rush once you're on the top and there's no one around for miles!! Not the same excitement as skiing but its a very close number 2.
if your talking mountain biking, sorry but I live in the flatest place in the uk, love cycling in the summer, do have a mountain bike, but as a friend of mine said once where I live what the hell did you pay for that for?
I adore MB, go to the lakes often... like you say nothing like the adrenolyn of getting to the top then going down the other side as fast as possible..... prefer ski'n but MB is the next best thing in my book
specially when there is a divine tea room at the bottom:}
right on Gill - you can really work up a serious appetite after a few hours going for it and a really good cafe is worth the wait.
Have you attempted the coast to coast (west to east??)
I did it 4 years ago - on my own and in one day - took me 16 hours from Whitehaven to Sunderland beach - it wasn't so much the exhaustion - rather that I was total dispirited for the last 3 hours or so. I had read that most people do it in 3 days, stopping at B&Bs along the way and generally having a good ...

I have never done the coast the coast, I have some great rides in the Lakes that I stick to at the moment, but doubt I would get the coast to coast done in the same day - how many miles is that? max I have done is 50 in one day - and doubt I could have managed anymore.... mind you still love ski'n much more....
My husband spent the other Saturday cycling around the Isle of Wight - not sure for what purpose! Each to their own I suppose but certainly not my idea of a good day out
I am also a big fan of the mountain biking and loving the better weather, so that I don’t have to spend more time cleaning it than riding it!!. Have you considered giving Borovets a go in the summer? Hi
I am also a big fan of the mountain biking and loving the better weather, so that I don’t have to spend more time cleaning it than riding it!!. Have you considered giving Borovets a go in the summer? Amazing marked trails, ranging from relatively straight forward cross country, to some long, fast and technical down hills. Real calf killing hills, with some amazing natural jump areas. The off track trails are really good, although I would only suggest them for the more adventurous, as you never know what is around the next corner and its easy to get lost!!
Let me know if you decide to give it a go, I am more than happy to offer any advice/help that I can.
