re: HOTEL RILA (BOROVETS) - CAN I HAVE SOME REVIEWS PLEASE!
Location - Brilliant
Food - Acceptable
Main Bar / Lobby - Buzzing
Rooms - Acceptable
Pool/Sauna - Nice
Just remember that although its rated 3/4 star dont expect to much from any bulgarian hotel, but it is brilliabt for this type of holiday beause its a good central base and you can ski to the front door.

I stayed there over New Year this year and can report that the hotel was great. The lobby bar is large and a great apres-ski place. The food was OK and my family enjoyed most of it. The hotel put on a splendid New Year Gala entertainment evening, which involved the inevitable hangover the next morning. The main four man chair is a stone's throw from the lobby. Rooms are basic but had all we required to make our holiday superb.

Have been using the Rila since 1988. Generally clean and comfortable and recent refurbishment of the rooms has made a difference. If possible ask for a slope facing room, the views of the slopes are great. Food is up and down. Breakfast deffo the best meal of the day. Evening meals are hit and miss and you may find you eat out more than you eat in. The lobby bar is expensive and we use it more as a meeting point. If possible ask for a slope facing room, the views of the slopes are great. Food is up and down. Breakfast deffo the best meal of the day. Evening meals are hit and miss and you may find you eat out more than you eat in. The lobby bar is expensive and we use it more as a meeting point. Use the local bars etc for drinks they are much cheaper. The cleaners are very good and will normally attend to any requests. Although the slope facing rooms are the best it can sometimes get noisy out the front at night but this is all part of it. There are obviously many other hotels but for proximity to the nursery slope and the four man chair lifts it is excellent. The gondola is about a 10 minute walk in full ski gear with the kids tagging along.
