Hi All,
Flew with Malev Airlines from Dublin via Budapest to Sofia for €200 return. No complaints there at all, no delays, great service on board.
Booked through resorthoppa online and got transfers to Bansko for €55 each return. They were there waiting for us in Sofia and at our hotel Luckybansko on Saturday. Our transfers took 2 hours on the way and 2 and a half hours on the return.
Stayed at Lucky Bansko where the service was fantastic. The spa was pure heaven and smiles all round ...

Stayed at Lucky Bansko where the service was fantastic. The spa was pure heaven and smiles all round from the staff. The shuttle went from 8 til 13.30 and returned from 14.00 to 17.30. This suited us perfectly.
I'd recommend it to anyone..especially the Rasul steam room...mmmmm
The whole argument about the building site is a bit funny to me. Normally I'm not known for my patience but Rome wasn't built in a day....
We were treated really well in all the Mehanas we visited(quite a few) and I'd recommend "Vakanova Kashta" at the very end of Pirin st on the left corner of the second square and also "Hunters Meet" on the right on Pirin st. Great food and great value.
As for the slopes, as Sam said in a previous post, the winds were high on the first day so the upper lifts were closed. However the rest of the week was fine. The longest queue for us was 20 minutes, 3 days there was no queue at all. Yes, it was slushy down low but this is Spring skiing! Had GREAT runs at the top all week.
This is an Eastern European country where things are completely different. Some people go expecting the Alps. I've heard a few people comparing it to Austria.COME ON!
Open your eyes and do your research before you go. If you're expecting Austria or the south of France, you'll be disappointed.
I love Bansko for being on the far edges of Europe. It borders countries like Serbia, Macedonia and Romania with very different histories and cultures to Ireland and the U.K.
So if you're planning a trip, be aware of this and you'll love it.
Don't forget to say Molle(please)
Blugodaria(thanks) and lots of
I'll be booking a ten day trip for next year.
Enjoy!
It will definitley be a bit of a mudbath at Bunderishka and Shiligarnika unless the temps drop down low and they get a dump but stay high and you'll enjoy it daniel. It snowed on and off for us up the top which was nice but we missed the big snow on friday night. It was a bit heart wrenching looking up at the fresh snow on saturday morning as we were getting on the bus..
I am definitely returning to Lucky Bansko.

Pool is Beautiful with heated loungers and relaxing music. Parts of it has jacuzzi.Loved it. 2 saunas and 2 steam rooms were fabulous too. Had a massage also, really good.
The 24 hour bar is nice, it's in the lobby, small but modern and cozy. We sat chatting to the barman well into the early hours. It has a couple of tvs if you're into your sport. It's getting quiet now as the season dies down but they get a lot of Bulgarians for weekend escapes to use the spas. Valentines weekend was really busy, he said.
All in all Thumbs very up for Lucky Bansko
