Half Term Help pls

Hi all, new board member here, good to read all the recent posts.

I'm looking to book a holiday for me and my 2 kids for half term and have done Pamp last 2 half terms. We loved it there but we may be coming with a family of 5 this yr who like Bansko.

Nothing booked so far - any tips on cheap deals, better to get a package or try and do bit by bit? We have had quotes for £2.5k (for us) and £4k (family of 5) to include ski hire, passes etc.

I imagine you will say that's a decent price (ish) - we can't really avoid half term unfortunately. We are looking for Birmingham or nearby to depart from.

Any tips gratefully received.

Thx Ian Wink

re: Half Term Help pls

Hmm. Doing a quick tally-up of apprx prices:
3 x 6 day lift pass £450, 3 x 6 day ski hire £150, private transfer for 3 £150 rtn, top end s/c 2 bedroom apartment close to gondola for half term week £400,
So that comes to £1150. Wizz flights from Luton look like about £175 pp, so if you can fly from Luton I'd say you could do it a hell of a lot cheaper than 2.5k!!! I don't know if the price you quoted was half board but you could book it yourself and eat out in a different restaurant every ...

If you want any other info of how to do it (we do it every year) you can click my name above and send me an email.

re: Half Term Help pls

I agree with Matt DIY it is so much cheaper, Flights from Birmingham hard to get direct flights so fly from Luton whizz/ gatwick or Manchester with easy Jet. Try booking.com for place to stay or www.holiday-rentals.co.uk. Dont go for half or full board as food is cheap in the town.
So far i have found intersport bansko do 6 day vip ski hire for 65 lev look at their website. ski pass 311 lev, sofiaairport taxi 138 euro return.

Hope this helps

Hope this help.

re: Half Term Help pls

I agree with the DIY option. I have an apartment at the Kandahar. I don't rent mine but others do and it's a good option if you are looking for something very close to the gondola, good bar, crèche facilities etc. Problem with wizzair is flight times. Also worth just checking for package holidays. If they have not sold their rooms you never know what sort of deal you can get. My first visit to bansko was at the kempinski half board for £550 each.

re: Half Term Help pls

thx LOL,

EJ flights are coming out at £1300 @ h/t so that might hinder making things cheaper. Much better timings than Wizz tho, if £750 more!

re: Half Term Help pls

I think Ryan air released some Sun - Sun flights from Stansted to Plovdiv recently - no idea if still avail but that would presumably only any good if you were interested in Pamps again.

re: Half Term Help pls

Ryanair have an additional flight for half term from Stansted to Plovdiv departing on Sun 12th and returning on Sun 19th Feb at a price of £99.51 (without bags etc).
Normal flight days are Tuesday and Saturday
