Hi,

Been to Banff twice now in 2004 & 2005, staying in Banff, and getting coaches to Lake Louise, Sunshine Village, 3rd place I can't remember yet. Coaches pick you up right outside your hotel and leave approx every 30 mins. Fantastic slopes - soooooh wide and with brilliant powdery snow which is well groomed. Very friendly people there, no queue jumping or rudeness you get in a lot of places.

Can't remember the names of the restaurants, but there is a great Steak House and fantastick chinese in Banff, and although not a lot of apre ski there is one pub, again in Banff that plays live music, has good food, and a great atmosphere. You will love it!!! (apart from coach journeys to slope).

We stayed at Banff International both times.

re: Has anyone been to Banff?

Thanks,

Just what I'm after, just one more question if you can answer it, we have our own boots, but always hire our skis at resorts, do you know how this works in Banff & I presume that you have to store your skis at your hotel overnight?

re: Has anyone been to Banff?

Hi Neil, I got back from Banff on thursday and it was the best holiday i have ever had! There were tons of snow and the weather was perfect, if a little cold (temp regularly -20)!
We stayed on Banff avenue which is the main street in banff, everything is based around this street so its very easy to find things in the town. You usually get a tri area lift pass which means you can ski the banff mountain (mount Norquay), Lake Louise and Sunshine Village. Buses to these resorts are free and ...

We stayed on Banff avenue which is the main street in banff, everything is based around this street so its very easy to find things in the town. You usually get a tri area lift pass which means you can ski the banff mountain (mount Norquay), Lake Louise and Sunshine Village. Buses to these resorts are free and stop outside most hotels, you will find out when you get there where your bus will stop and the drop off and pickup times.
The lift pass isnt like European passes that are cards and go inside your jacket, they are literally just pieces of paper that attach to the outside of your jacket, abit like what you use at xscape, and people who work on the lifts scan them as you get on. It was fairly quiet when we went and we didn't queue for any lift at any resort for more than 5mins.
We had a couple of days off skiing and went on a tour of Banff, a trip to a frozen canyon and waterfall and went up the banff gondola (highly recommended). You will get told all about the different trips they offer when you get there.
Theres loads of places to eat, all very close together, favourites are Melissa's, Wild Bills and the Old Spaghetti Factory.
Banff is the nicest and friendliest place i have ever been to and we booked the same holiday yesterday for next year, you'll have a brilliant time.

re: Has anyone been to Banff?

High Neil,

Yes, you will take your ski's and boots back to your hotel each night, I had my own boots and hired ski's (I doubt this has changed in 2 years). When we got there there was no snow in the town at all, but don't worry because the mountains are so high by the time you get to the top there will be tons of the stuff.

re: Has anyone been to Banff?

Neil,

I went to Banff a few years ago and you will have the most amazing time. We spent all day everyday up in the mountains for 10 days and did not even use half the lifts / runs.

Check out the follwing link for sunshie village.
