Heard a rumour..

I read somewhere on this site that there were snow cannons in operation on two of the slopes in Borovets. They say this guarantees snow on these slopes even if it dosnt fall from the sky. Can anyone confirm this?? If this is correct then those of us going at xmas can breathe a sigh of relief if no snow arrives.

Snow cannons only work if it is cold enough.

I am told that the optimal temperature range is between -2 and -7 celcius. However, they can function at teperatures up to 2'C but given the costs involved, resorts don't like to fire them up until the optimal range can be met.
