Helmet cam advice

I've read the long thread talking about helmet cams and would like to get one but can't afford the prices the thread mentions.

Does any one have advice for a someone who knows nothing about helmet cams but would like to get a decent but cheap one? Say under £50.

Is it posible to get ones that record straight onto memory cards which I could bring home and transfer to the computer? Don't intend to take the laptop on holiday with me.

sut was wondering what advice people may hav

re: Helmet cam advice

I have bought an "Action Cam" on Ebay. £28.95 with free P&P. It was advertised as a Buy it Now, but not including a memory card. It supports cards up to 32Gb and again I bought one on Ebay for £12 odd. I will be using it in earnest as of Sunday, in Borovets and will post a report on it. I have taking brief clips with it and so far I am happy with the results. The memory card had to be formatted in the computer before use. I am also a motorcyclist and intend to use it on my crash helmet.

That would be great thanks. I seen a few on ebay and amazon but don't know if they'd be good or if I'd be better off just using my mobile.

My hope is to find one and just take a load of memory cards (SD/SDHC) then transfer them when I get home, so I won't know what the recordings are like until then.

re: Helmet cam advice

I'll keep you posted and by the time I have loaded my cards to the computer, I'll know how much recording time they are capable of. My one concern is that the camera is powered by only 2 AAA batteries which are not renowned for holding charge in extreme cold.

This will sound unreal, but there's an affordable option for 99p. (plus postage)

I've got a couple of these and they're brilliant at what they do. OK the footage isn't 100% but if you go onto youtube and search for MD80 mini cam you can see a lot of footage, albeit mainly from motorbike helmets. All you need to add is a (decent) micro SD card and you're away.

re: Helmet cam advice

Noted that the current bid is only 99p, but also that it has a max recording capacity to card of only 8Gig.

re: Helmet cam advice

8GB at the resolution it provides is more than enough for a week away. And it's at 99p buy-it-now, plus the usual fiver or so postage from the far east ... can't go wrong with these ones
