Helmets -- My Thoughts
For the love of God, For the love of your family, For the love of your children, PLEASE will you all go and buy a helmet for yourselves and your children before you go away skiing/boarding this season ---- and make sure you bloody wear it.........
I was in the 3V before Xmas and 4 out of 5 skiers/boarders wore a lid.
It is now cool TO HAVE A LID ON YOUR HEAD.......
Please don't you dare come back and talk about the expense of getting the family a lid each. Think about what ...

Please don't you dare come back and talk about the expense of getting the family a lid each. Think about what you spend on your winter holiday every year, think about what you pay for 1 nice meal out in your local posh restaurant....... This could save your life, This could save the life of your child.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - I BEG YOU -- Buy and wear a helmet this season.
totally agree, skiied as a kid in glen shee/avimore an never wore one, skiied again 25 years later with hubby as a 1st timer, again no helmet, he had a couple of nasty falls where he knocked his head quite badly. Came home bought helmets and we wore them last time out and have them on the packing list for our trip out to boro on sunday. Was hoping for a crazy helmet cover for xmas but got an extra cheeky week in January instead!! perhaps will have to buy myself that silly snow lepard ...

I'll be the old lady in the pink jacket with the pink helmet, hubby will be the one in the lime green/black swirly pattern jacket and black helmet say hi if you see us
I'm going to add my voice to this ... and I've said it here before. I won't so much as look at my board without a helmet these days ... after a nasty nasty fall whilst filming this ...

... but I'll also add that if you're thinking about boarding for gawds sake invest in a pair of wrist guards (and biggers gloves so that they fit over them). Biggest injury by a million miles for boarders, especially learners, is the wrist!
A link to the vid ... and if you're looking for the fall, it was edited out, but you can see a scary one start at 3.28! Blink and you'll miss it though.
I agree. Have never worn a helmet before as we just never got around to buying one. Last time I skied 2 years ago I fell and smacked my head on the ice and it really shook me up. I vowed to wear a helmet next time. A couple of weeks later Natasha Richardson died after her fall.
Needless to say, both hubby and I now have helmets for our trip to Bansko in March.
my thinking is : wear a helmet --- if you didnt need it you were lucky,
If you did need it : saved a lot of dosh, and you lived to tell the tale.
Happy New Year , may all your holidays have lots of snow and no extra seats required on the way home.
