Helmets for Adults

We're planning our second skiing trip in Feb. I'm hoping to go a bit faster this time and wondering whether I ought to get a helmet. Last year I felt my progress was hindered by the fear factor of losing control and crashing into the trees (I was really preoccupied with this thought though it never happened).

Can anyone tell me whether a helmet would be a good investment or a waste of money - I'm hoping it will buy me confidence! I'm particularly keen to know if they feel restrictive and ...

Can anyone tell me whether a helmet would be a good investment or a waste of money - I'm hoping it will buy me confidence! I'm particularly keen to know if they feel restrictive and a bit of hindrance. Also, are there special helmets for skiing or will ones used for other sports be okay? I can only remember seeing them on the kids, so maybe this plan is a bit of an over reaction to my nerves.

you can get skiing helmets from decathlon at reasonable prices cant vouch for comfort , and realy we should all wear them ,i dont ,but after a playground accident that my son had ,where he suffered a depressed fractured skull it made me think that we are just as vunerable as a child at getting seriously injured thankfully they are few and far between.its not always your fault either it can be some other idiot that is out of control and has no basic skills that ploughs into you and you taking ...

Helmets in Borovets are being worn by all ages and is becoming more and more popular every season.
If, by wearing a helmet, it will help you with your confidence and increase your safety, well you win both ways Wink

i wear a helmet and am glad i do, last year when my confidence was at a level that i could try a few more moves i fell, my helmet now has a large deep scratch in it which if not worn at that time would have resulted in stitches.

be safe

re: Helmets for Adults

I would never ski without a helmet now. It has improved my confidence but I'm not sure whether that's a good thing!

A growing minority of adults now ski with helmets, they are very light, keep your head nice 'n' toasty and aren't a hindrance whilst skiing as they are so light too.

IThey don't guarantee you'll survive the holiday but they could help. There was a crash in Borovets (?) last year between two skiers, only the person wearing the helmet survived...

re: Helmets for Adults

Worn a helmet for the last few years.
Mine is a Giro.9

It's far better than a hat at keeping my head warm and it doesn't slip around like a hat can.

Invest in one. You won't regret it.

More and more adults are wearing helmets.

Thanks everyone! Think I'll get myself one and be a trend setter.
