Help!

Hello!

I really really want to try snowboarding. I can't seem to find any friends willing to commit to a trip so have been thinking about going alone. I have a few questions that hope someone might be able to help me with. Firstly, is it safe for a lone female?
Which resort is best?
I would need school, any recommendations?
Should I book the full package through the school or buy bits separately?
Where can I stay to guarantee I won't be on my own the entire time? Maybe a hostel? ...

Although I am probably decades away from your age I have been going to Bulgaria for many years, several times on my own ,and have never felt unsafe-obviously stupid behaviour is going to put any woman at risk. This year I have taken a last minute package with Balkan holidays-the ski pack is very cheap and there is a variety of hotels that cater for singles-in Borovets the Samakov is near the lifts as is the Ela (much smaller hotel) - Borovets ski areas are both near each other and you don't ...

Maybe the smaller hotels give you opportunity to meet like skiers/boarders but if you book lessons (usually 4 hours) you will get to know others from the first day-the groups used to lunch together with the instructor which makes it even more sociable. It does sound that if you find the famous 'Bobby's Bar there is a massive British following that hang out there-check it on facebook.
The Alpin hotel does fab food if you eat out.

Hi Tash

Absolutely go on your own. I do several times a year and I'm never short of people to board with. There are so many options for everything meaning that you have lots of choice. You can book into a school group so you would have company or just get talking to people in the bars. In my view Borovets is fantastic and have felt no need to go elsewhere, however I know that others may favour Bansko or another of the resorts for different reasons. Borovets is the closest to the Capital Sofia and therefore the transfer is only about 1 hr 15 mins. The best thing to do is to join our Facebook Group 'Borovets 2017-Snow, skiing, boarding and everything else - information group'. There is a massive group of people with a wealth of knowledge who will be only too happy to assist you with any questions to help you get booked up and prepared for your trip.

Go it alone

P.s. I'm out on my own this Saturday 14th Jan.

re:Help!

hi
yeah as del boy has said- you will be fine on your own. Not sure if your are booking all things yourself or going with a travel company? if with Balkan it is cheaper to have a full ski pack including instruction, than it is to hire board and lift pass on its own- but you will meet folk easily in school and in the bars. I love bobbys bar as lots of brits meet up in there!
And yes, check out the face book page!
Enjoy your holiday!
