Help to plan ski-holiday?

We are 6 persons who wants to plan a cheap ski-holiday in Bulgaria in week 5 or 6 or 7 or 8, 2011. We fly from Copenhagen Airport.

(The kids are more than 11 years old and reasonably good at skiing).

We would like som help to find:
1. A good ski-resort?
2. Near a big airport?
3. How do we arrange transport from the airport in Bulgaria to the resort?

4. List of hotels?

Than you very much for helping us.
Very Happy

Best regards
Jens

re: Help to plan ski-holiday?

I would do your research first and decide which ski resort you want to go to - they all have their good and bad points. Once you have decided on a resort then we can look at hotels, transfers etc.

re: Help to plan ski-holiday?

Hi Jens, from Copenhagen you will most probably fly into Sofia Airport. This would most probably rule out Pamporovo, although it is a good resort, as the transfer time is 3-3.5 hours.

The nearest ski resort would be Borovets and most probably the best for you. There are lots of people on this site who will be able to help you with accommodation, transfer and ski equipment. If you email me on [email protected] I could recommend someone who could possible arrange the whole package ...

re: Help to plan ski-holiday?

Hi Jens'

I would agree with Andie and recommend Borovets, as i've been many times with my family and had an excellent time.

Thee are details of hotels and transfers on this site but i also use Profi Tours ( not sure if i'm allowed to say this on here?). I've found them very helpful in past years!

re: Help to plan ski-holiday?

I would recommend Bansko, rent appartments privetly, book own flights and get transfers, Stevec is very good and we found him plus very resonable. This will work out the cheapest way.

Hi Sam!

Some says that Bansko is a better resort than Borovnik - and some the opposite.

What is advantage and disadvantage between the two resorts?

Thak you for your help!

re: Help to plan ski-holiday?

I think first thing you have to look is, what for filghts you will take and what time for transfer you need in Bulgaria. From Sofia to Borovez you need between 60 and 90 minutes, from Sofia to Bansko it will be 150 to 180 minutes.
The secound question is what kind of ski holiday you want, are you more ski manics or apres skiers...and do you want to see something from the country you visit.

Borovez is the oldest and highest ski resort and Bansko the latest and modernst. Build up from some slopes and an old village in the mountains now with new gondola, slopes and snow canons.

You can find many interesstings places to stay and book your own hotel or appartment online.

If you make clear where you want to go, you should may be ask again for some help.
