Help with depression

Hi guys,
I just wondered if anyone can help me....
last Sunday (13th March) I came home after my first ever snowboarding holiday in Borovets (my first ever ski holiday ever though)
I just wondered how we all deal with HUGE depression I seem to have developed since coming home! All i want to do is up sticks and move to somewhere where there's snow! I'm desperatly trying to keep my self from spending a small fortune on going to the local indoor slope just to have an hour or so of boarding ...

I just wondered how we all deal with HUGE depression I seem to have developed since coming home! All i want to do is up sticks and move to somewhere where there's snow! I'm desperatly trying to keep my self from spending a small fortune on going to the local indoor slope just to have an hour or so of boarding every other day!
I just wondered how we all cope? I can't wait a year without strapping my feet to a board again! I'm going to try keep it to once a month at the local indoor slope, but I may have to take 2 or even 3 holidays next season!

Thanks borovets for making me fall in love with this sport! But damn the sport for being so expensive!!! lol

re: Help with depression

i think your suffering the same symptoms as all us skiers and boarders. we do seem to be a rare breed. we spend all winter glued to webcams looking at the conditions, then getting down in the dumps when we get back home. i personally dont do the indoor stuff in the uk cos it doesnt live up to the proper stuff. the way to deal with it is to get online and book some more flights for next year..works for me and you constantly have something to look forward to. summers on its way..keep ...

re: Help with depression

Rob, I know how you feel. I had 4 truly great seasons in Boro' and fell in love with the place.
However, as you improve you will quickly find you can cover all the slopes in half a day. But Its definitely a great place to learn & the bars etc are spot on.
Most of the Alpine resorts though are truly amazing by comparison and on a Grander scale. The snow is usually much better, guaranteed and well groomed. Also it doesn't necessarily cost much more. Unfortunately, I was tempted away to ...

Unfortunately, I was tempted away to Italy and would only go back to Boro now if /when teaching my kids to board/ski.
I like going to the British seaside but Barbados wins hands down............

re: Help with depression

very debatable simon.....grander scale maybe...but the snow much better?!!!? i disagree. whilst the skiers in the french and italian alps were skiing through puddles of water (on a grander scale) bulgaria was enjoying the best conditions....even voiced by chemmy alcott during the commentary during the world cup.....surely you do not have the power to predict where the best snow will fall...or do you???

re: Help with depression

Rob; I came back at the beginning of Feb after my first ever skiing trip to Boro and I'm sorry to say....it doesn't get easier! To cope, I read other people's comments about their trip, compare prices of different hotels/flights/packages, talk to everyone I know about it and patiently wait till the time I can get back. I'm also planning a trip to Xscape which has 'real' snow... Till then, just look over photos and try to contain your excitement! Good luck. Wink

Great tips guys n gals! Seems the general idea is to book another holiday ASAP! Going to have to get on that I think! Was looking at Norway (I know it's expensive as anything but it's my dream country to visit) and they have a resrot which doesnt open untill March and stays open untill June/July! Surprised I'm considering it!

I think Borovetz was a great resort though, I know I have nothing to compare it to, but I could probably see that if I got good enough I could do most of the slopes in a day, so may look at a larger resort now I've got the hang of it! Borovetz WILL be somewhere I'll visit again though! Smile And it was exceptional for a beginner like me!! It's given me one of the best holidays I've had so thanks to all involved!

I know the indoor slopes here in the UK aren't that great but they're better than my local dry slope, that and they're open year-round unlink my dry slope! Sad So it'll be something to get me through the year!

I'll be keeping my eye on the forum though and keep going through my photos (my favourite of which I can't help but share:

Glad I'm not the only 1 in the same condition though! Don't worry everyone, we can get through this....together! Very Happy
