Helllloooo people - back after what can only be described as a very disappointing week in Pamporovo (skiing-wise).
Went up on the first day only to find all reds/blacks and the back blue runs closed. Those slopes that were open really shouldn't have been as they were just too dangerous to allow free skiing.
We took just one run down and gave up. It snowed on Tuesday but this if anything made the conditions worse as the fresh snow did little more than hide the dangers. Tried again on Wednesday for 1 run then gave up altogether and never skied again.
The beginners were brilliant and made the most of what nursery slopes there were and most enjoyed the limited skiing they got. To all of them, a VERY WELL DONE and please do not think this is what Pamporovo is all about as it's not, and you have learnt to ski in the hardest conditions possible and come through it with smiles on your faces. - Fantastic!!!
Met loads from the board - nice to see each and every one of you, but the 23rd party didn't happen as our flight was diverted to Cardiff and we had to be busses from Bristol to catch it. That meant a 5 hour delay and I didn't get to BJ's until past midnight. (It will always be BJ's for me - not DJ's).
When we left this morning at 3.40am there was still no new snow although there was talk of some today.
The resort - a mess at middle station with all the work going on, although it will not effect the skiing once the snow fully arrives.
The internet cafe between Morgavets and Perelik is gone and there was no access available in the area I was staying. (I since discovered that there are computers available in the Hotel Pamporovo.)
Had a great week, met lots of friends old and new but nothing can replace the disappointment of basically no skiing.
Never mind, back again in a few weeks and I'm sure all will be fine by then.
Well as you know I have always tried to be Mr. Positive but the locals are saying 10th Jan before any 'real' skiing can take place. Really hope it's much sooner than that!
That's the whole point Daniel. BJ's (Bo Jangles originally) was a patented trade mark and when it was sold the trade mark was withheld, so George Spider re-named it as close as he could. (Although if it was me I would have called it Bee Jays.)
