High elevation roads

After reading the posts, my wife and I are settled into bringing our gear. So that means we don't need ski lifts, we will just hike up. What roads go the highest? Can we get high enough on a road to start hiking in the snow anywhere? The best deal is to hitch a ride to the top of a pass then ski back down to the road and repeat. Is that possible anywhere in Bulgaria?

Tell you what fella, email Fraser on [email protected]

He is a English guy with a ski school out there, maybe you could use him as a guide for half a day to show you the best way up and down,or even just for some good honest advice..

re: High elevation roads

We will be based in Sophia as that is where my wifes family lives. But we will be traveling throughout Bulgaria. My wife is going to show me her home country. We live at Lake Tahoe in California and this will be my first time skiing in Bulgaria. So we will go wherever is best. Our hope is that we can drive to the snow and hike up from there.

Thanks for the advice on Fraser. That is great advice.
