Hip flask contents

HI all. I'm out on the 25th to borovets and have joined the hip flask band wagon. A friend of mine has offloaded some powerful sloe gin on to me. I was just wondering if anyone has experience of taking this over on the flight. Obvioulsy not in hand luggage but I assume this would be ok in the hold luggage? Otherwise I'll just buy some loopy juice out there! Smile

Yes Timbo - I have always put mine fully loaded into my main luggage without any problems.

Cheers PP. Although I think its gonna take more than a hip flask of sloe gin to keep warm this season! Cant believe how cold its got.

Get a wee half of Apple Vodka out there ... less than the price of a pint in the UK

re: Hip flask contents

Thanks Robert. I assume that stuff is on sale in most of the shops? While we're on alcohol, does anyone know what is contained in the "free" shots that are supplied in various establishments around the resort? I have heard various flagrant stories of antifreeze and such like! Confused

re: Hip flask contents

You can only go be what people say, but if you go to the smaller establishments you actually see them pouring it out of the bottle most of the time & if it says 45% proof then it's sure good enough for me.
I must admit some of the shots you get do look like antifreeze.
But then again don't worry about silly things like that on your holiday you are there to enjoy yourselves so drink, ski & be happy Very Happy

re: Hip flask contents

Yeah, you can get it almost everywhere.

Usually rakia in a free shot and I'd shoot down rumours like that in a second! Why would they poison people who could be returning customers? Why would they give away antifreeze that's more expensive than the Rakia in the first place. It may be a pretty rough local brand, and if you're worried about it in any way, don't drink it.

I hear Kas and Bobby's is brilliant by the way, they worked hard on it.

re: Hip flask contents

Yeah, I tend to agree. Cant see why they'd poison people who are spending money. I came down with something last year and was rough as badgers. Think it was probably just too much alcohol in general. Pacing myself this year!!! Smile

Thanks for the replies and I'll keep an eye out for that apple vodka.

re: Hip flask contents

with this cold a bit of anti freeze might not be a bad idea! I have drank everything i have been offered in borovets and never had a bad stomach off it... we usually start the day with a free shot from somehere Very Happy
