Holiday Money

Hi there,

Can anyone please advise what we should bring (money wise) with us to Borovets? We are due to come over for a week on the 26th March.

I have heard that tha locals prefer to receive American dollars or sterling. We were planning on bringing half Bulgarian Lev and half either Dollars or Sterling. Advice appreciated!

Also, if it is recommended to bring travellers cheques, are there plenty of placed in Borovets where we can change them into money?

Thanks!!!

This has been answered 1,000 times on here, but as you are new ------ here we go again.

Take Sterling, not ripped or written on or they will not change it. Travellers cheques are not recommended as they get the lowest exchange rate. Take some Levs to get you started, and also take your plastic as there are lots of cash machines that also offer a good exchange rate.

re: Holiday Money

At Sofia Airport, after you come through customs etc., just go left into the little bar area and there are two ATMs in there which are in English and give you a good rate, 2.77 last week. You will then find plenty of ATMs in the resort and your holiday money problems are over. Sorted!
