Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.. a group of us (6 of us!!) has booked a skiing holiday to Borovets on the 19th December. Is it too early to go skiing? Have to go at that time coz that's the only time off that we can get. and since we are skint students, we have booked a chalet for 6 of us at the Malina Village. Gonna be a tight squeeze!! Anyone stayed at Malina before?
Since none of us has been skiing before, so any advice on what to bring/wear etc? ...

Stayed at Malina Village for our first time in Borovets - it was more than adequate and set in a beautiful pine forest, sadly a bit far out of town for lazy types like me (this time round we're looking at somewhere in town) and the bathroom was FREEZING first thing in the morning. VERY well priced though.

Ok. As you are having lessons there is a high possability that you will be standing around for long periods of time (sometimes people in your group are not as fast to learn and you have to wait for them). So the essentials for keeping warm are
Thermal longjohns (nice )
Termal vest (not essential as often a Tshirt will be ok)
Thermal socks (a total must, cold feet arent funny)
Good gloves (cold hands arent funny either)
Ski jacket (cant stress enough, get a good one)
Salopettes (again ...

Layer your clothes. eg. Vest(tshirt), fleece then jacket. (on warmer days, ,like -2 you might only want two layers. On cold days -20 you'll be glad of the layers)
Going out and about (day, not skiing)
Winter trousers (cords rather than jeans, jeans tend to hold the cold)
Boots/walking trainers (not fashion boots or hairy monster boots). You need good grip (ice around) and warmth. Walking around in deep snow can be cold.
Double up and use your ski jacket again.
Going out (evenings)
Cant help there. I'm a man. What do I know!!!!
These were the tips I was given when I went for the first time last year. It worked well for me and the family.
Dont forget the hotels/bars can be warm so wear layers you can peel off when around and about, dont want to be too warm.
If you are on a budget you dont have to shop at Ski shops to get your gear. I never have (too expensive). You'll find it much cheaper at TKMaXX, ASDA, Primark etc
I guarantee you'll save £100's. Its still too early to shop for these (been looking myself), but closer to December you'll start to get some bargains.
E.g. Tresspass ski jacket (retail £100+, TKMaXX £35).
You will also find that the Ski wear at the resorts is reasonable too, so if you find what you have got isnt that good, you'll be able to buy good gear cheaper there.
