re: Hotel Bor or Edelweise ???

The hotels are right next to each other. I stayed in the hotel Bor and it was fine (a bit smoky- but isn't everywhere in Bulgaria). They seem much the same but to be honest only walked into Hotel Edelweiss once.

They are a bit out of the way. About a 10 minute walk slightly up hill to the Rila Slope. What we tended to do was get the horse taxi or a taxi (10lev to the Rila Hotel) in the mornings and then we ambled back in the evenings. The location is very peaceful compared to the Rila ...

I suppose it depends what you want. Both myself and husband like a good night out and simply because we were a little way from the centre did not deter us at all.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I stayed at the Eidelweiss last year. Clean, tidy and the staff were friendly. Food was on the whole OK although some of the meals were traditional Bulgarian dishes. It's a 10/15 min walk into town but you can take a horse and cart or taxi for a couple of quid.

Hi,

I stayed at the Eidelweiss last year. It was nice. The kind of thing you would expect. The bar was far better than the one in the Bor, but other than that, they are both much the same.

Like everyone else has been saying, they are a bit of a walk away from the gondola. Like everyone else has been saying, they are a bit of a walk away from the gondola. I know a 15 minute walk doesn't sound much when you are sitting in a nice warm room in front of a computer, but when you've spent a day on the slopes and you just want to have a shower - those 15 minutes can seem very unpleasant. If you are on a budget, the taxi rides can add up over the week and it probably works out to be the same as paying more for a closer hotel.

But they are both perfectly nice hotels. And the cocktails at Eidelweiss are dangerously deliciously cheap!!!
