re: Hotel Edelweiss

just got back last night and me and the misses stayed in the eldelwies. To tell you the truth I won't be returning the hotel was clean and thats about the only pluss point I can give you. The food is shocking so expect to eat out (still very inexpensive) The rooms were cold and the matress was held up with bits of fire wood which kept breaking Confused You can hear everthing from your room some russias decided to have a party every night and kept us a wake (so we got drunk and passed out)

Its about 10 - 15 mins treck to the town but we hired our equipment so our boots and skis are left in a shop on the slopes which save walking about with the boots on. A taxi into town is 10l (or horse and cart)
If you have been skiing before and your pretty good you can get from top to bottom of all the runs in a matter of minutes.

On a better note the night life is very good and very cheap. Go to the cocktail bar and get the strawberry one.

If you are hiring equipment make sure you have a good look at what they give you and make sure you know what to check when fitting your boots. One bloke got split skis I got really damaged poles and mine and the misses boots kept opening. Stick to italy and pay out Very Happy

one more thing don't take the trip into sofia shocking place and shit shops cheaper on the slopes

Have fun

We stayed at Edelweiss got back saturday. Small rooms. Food wasn't as bad as we expected and you are so hungry after ski-ing and then walking back that you didn't notice. it was possible to ask the chef for specific food choices for extra cost. there were plenty of taxis horse & normal cost 10 lev. the walk to the resort takes about 15/20 mins. There is a sauna and masseur downstairs as well as small bar. Not much atmosphere in the night you will have to either stay in main resort after ...

There is a sauna and masseur downstairs as well as small bar. Not much atmosphere in the night you will have to either stay in main resort after ski-ing or go back out later on. we also found it noisy in the night and too hot slept with the window open! Have a great time! The staff appear dour when you first arrive but they soon start opening up a bit if you smile at them!
