I have just returned from my first trip to Borovets, had a fantastic time, people were wonderful, slopes a bit icey, but snow was due today.
The main street in Borovets was trecherous which resulted in the sad occurence of a local man slipping, banging his head and having a heart attack, he sadly died as a result of his injuries. The locals have since cleared the street of ice. I believe the man had come out of a family party at about midnight, my thoughts are with his family.

Whilst we were there, we stayed at the hotel Ela. We hired a safety deposit box and was handed a key, the manageress told us that it was the ONLY key.
On the second to last day, i opened the box to discover £100 (one hundred pounds) missing. The manageress became instantly abusive to my family and I stating that we were lying.
I caontacted my Airtours/Panorama rep, who was a local Bulgarian lad and was excellent. He filled out a report and suggested that we go to the Police. Meanwhile, i found out from another guest, that they had opened their box to find passports belonging to other guests lodged in their box.
They checked their money and found some of it had been stolen. The manageress again became abusive however later admitted that their was two keys, one of which was housed with the staff. She went on to say that she would be telling the Police that there was only one key. She also stated that The other party would not be getting their passports back if the Police were contacted.
The Rep and i went to the local Police Station and were met by three Police Officers, who ascertained the facts and who immediatley began shouting and pointing in my reps's face. This happened in a Public Street. The Police went on to say that we were lying and basically told us to get lost. It was embarrasing for The rep and myself.
The Hotel ELA is a small hotel in a great location. The food is the worse I have ever eaten, total crap. The bar is good and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, but if my money wasn't stolen, I wouldn't put people off either. If you are staying there, think twice about what you do with your money. I would speak to my reap and ask about the possible use of some other hotels boxes. Don't be put off by this report, which i have tried to make as fairly balanced as possible. Go and have a great time, Tony L
We stayed at Samakov-just returning home today at 2am. Two of our party had some money stolen from their room while another 2 in our party had fags pinched.
Apart from the thieving gypos we had a magic time- Skiing good- Boni Bar even better. Having visited this site alot im surprised that I had never heard of Bonis? I thought i was their no1 customer but was nothing compared to a bunch of scottish lads who hooped it up everynight from opening to closing (respect).
