Hi folks
coming to Pamps end Feb for 1st time. Staying at Elina Hotel. Any reports?
Is it way out in the middle of nowhere? Concerned we're gonna be stranded and not able to join in all the partying fun in town
It is away from the centre in some woods, really nice setting, but you can get lifts into town with hotel mini bus but think only till 10 then it's taxis at 15 lev about £6 if you want to party all night could walk back but there will be loads of snow so best get a lift. Hotel only small and rooms really hot, cheapest beer in resort apparentley and food Bulgarian cooked, it's ok but not a great choice, mini bus to slopes at 9 and last one back at 4.30. Enjoy, we did
Depends what you're looking for. If you want cheap beer, a nice bar, an excellent massage, friendly but ineffective staff, leaking radiators, warped windows that wont close, thread-bare room carpets, cigarette burns in bedding, crumbling room walls, door frames held together with silicon sealant, so much noise you can't sleep even with ear plugs in (dependant on room location), a manageress & rep who fail to deal with problems, and very limited evening meals to the sound of 'Strangers in ...
Depends what you're looking for. If you want cheap beer, a nice bar, an excellent massage, friendly but ineffective staff, leaking radiators, warped windows that wont close, thread-bare room carpets, cigarette burns in bedding, crumbling room walls, door frames held together with silicon sealant, so much noise you can't sleep even with ear plugs in (dependant on room location), a manageress & rep who fail to deal with problems, and very limited evening meals to the sound of 'Strangers in the Night' played live on keyboard (panpipe setting) then it's heaven. Also be careful taxi drivers dont take you to Hotel Malina instead of Elina as it happened to us & another couple we met & it doubles the fare. Basically, take a good sense of humour with you & don't let the hotel spoil a good holiday. If you get a quiet room location you're probably ok. (ps. when starvation sets in, about wednesday, visit the Donner Kabab koisk in the centre. It's not a donner you get, it's chicken & chips in a bread with salad & chili sauce and it's the business!! pps. This hotel is not representative of others. We were in Finlandia last year and were very impressed, we only went for a change to make the holiday different & let me tell you, it was different!! Cheers, J.
