Me and my partner are first time skiers and are staying at the hotel Lion from Feb 3rd has anybody stayed here? if so what is it like and have you any tips?
Could you also suggest on what we should be taking with us in terms of clothing etc..
re: clothes - to ski you need outer layer - hat, jacket, salopettes, warm socks, mid layer - fleece jumper or similar and base layer - thermal top and leggings. You'll also need some good ski gloves and sunglasses (or goggles). When we were there last Feb it was -22 at times, so although you do get warmer when you're skiing, it's still pretty chilly - especially on the lifts. You don't have to pay a fortune (although you can if you want) - try TK Maxx or Aldi for some good bargains - you ...

For evenings, we just took jeans/combats, tops/tshirts and a couple of jumpers. You'll need trainers or boots with grippy soles too as it's icy underfoot. Everyone's pretty casual, so no need to worry about glad rags! The rooms at the hotel where we stayed were really hot - no need for thermal pjs there!
The other stuff - toiletries and so on on are the same as for any other holiday. Have a ball!
We stayed at the hotel lion last year on our first trip to bulgaria. We are staying there again this year it was that good. I took my daughter aged 19 and it was lively enough for her but laid back and friendly enough for me.
the food is typical bulgarian fare stews etc but lots of it. Buy drinks in the bar not at the table and youll save a few pennies. The rooms are really cosy and warm enough to dry your kit.
Its about a ten minute walk to the slopes or the hotel provides a free bus ...

I'm sure you'll love it - we were first timers last year and we're back again Feb 17th (Pamps). Forgot to add - take some chapstick and protective cream for your faces, otherwise they get sore with the cold.
We spent about £200 last year, but that included some evening excursions and other stuff. Lunch on slopes was around a fiver for two of us. Drinks mightily cheap - hubby drank beer, me wine and a round was about £2 in hotal bar. Be aware - its dearer if you order drinks at your dinner table though!
I just got back new years eve from the lion in borovets, and I thought the hotel was great, rooms very clean, staff seemed a bit frosty at first till I realised they didn't have a clue what I was saying! Food was ok, being a vegetarian I wasn't expecting anything to greatm but my other half liked it loads,
Food outside was very cheap, lunch was around 15 lev that was a soft drink and margherita pizza, 10 lev is around 3 pounds,

Wasn't a great deal of snow but plenty to ski on, getting quite icy before we left, but really had fun, it'll probably be a bot warmer when you go, and there should be a hell of a lot more snow
