Ive just come back from Borovets (fantastic snow from top gondola by the way!!!!) and stayed in the Hotel Lion.
It's a really nice hotel, it's clean and warm with great showers, but it's about a 20 minute walk from the slopes. There is a shuttle bus to the Samokov hotel, but this is a bit infrequent and depends on if the driver can be bothered. It's meant to go every 20 mins in the morning, but it is normally at least 30mins if you miss it! We walked most days as it was a great warm up ...

Just a word of warning, make sure you check your mini-bar when you get to the hotel. We were charged for some crisps we didn't eat. It was only 2.50 lev, but when we complained woman at reception was very moody about it and in the end we were forced to pay it.
The skiing is amazing at the moment, hope you enjoy you holiday...
