Stayed there Jan last year, aint no 3 *.
Rooms were clean but very very basic. Hotel could do with a refurb, getting very dated now.
Food was less than average so we ate out every day for lunch and Dinner.
Always plenty hot water and rooms were warm enough.
Beds were quite hard and pillows were not comfy. Good job I went out for a few beers every night or not sure how much sleep I would have got.
Never much noise when I was there, we were looking onto the back of the hotel so no balcony ...

Overall would not go back to the Olymp hence why we've booked into the samokov next year.
The Olymp wont put you off Bulgaria as we are going back next year (and cant wait!) and im no snob so take this as an honest report of someone who doesnt have high expectations when going abroad.
Hope this helps, anymore questions just fire away.
Basically, I'm looking to book a cheap snowboarding hol in Borovets in March with the missus. The place seems ideal since it's close to the lifts, and because she's a complete beginner, i thought it's best not to burden her with long walks to resort, pain in the neck shuttles etc.
We're not fussy with accommodation really, just as long as we get a double bed, warm room, shower/toilet facilities and clean bed linen. She's a bit more fussy than me when it comes to food ...
Cheers Scott.

What do you think? Maybe another recommendation perhaps?
definately......the walk from the olymp is a bit of a pain, either down the slope or on the road thats not gritted, mind you its full of holes at the minute anyway, if your not a beginner its not too bad you can ski down to where the classes are, but if the misses is a beginner try geting into the Rila/Alpin/Iglika if you can, much better for you
Have stayed at the Ela and the Breza and both are very handy for the Gondola. The Breza has been slagged off in the past, but when we went last year we were very pleasently surprised with food and rooms.Zaks bar in the hotel is brilliant for a drink after skiing. The Ela is a larger hotel opp. the Samakov, and again we had no complaints. Great bar with an extended happy hour.
