Hotel Rila - Food

We have just returned back from the Hotel Rila after our first skiing holiday. We had a great time, but the most disappointing aspect given that the Rila is a 4* hotel, was that the evening food in the restaurant was crap. That’s not just my opinion, but the opinion of everybody we spoke to, even the ski instructors said they hear the same complaints about the food every week. The breakfast was slightly better if you like fruit, and if you wanted to patiently queue 25mins for a pancake. The breakfast tables were never cleared properly and there seemed to be a lack of hotel staff in the restaurant. Can recommend the Titanic and Francos, for good evening food. The skiing was great, and the instructors were more than helpful, I just wish we hadn’t stayed at the Rila. If you get a studio apartment make sure it’s not facing the bars, as the music goes on after 03:00 most mornings.

we go the rila every year but always make sure we are at the back of the hotel to avoid the noise at night. although the food has always been excellent in previous years i am sorry to say that this year it was indeed extremely awful. we ate at la bomba venice which is located just outside the rila and to the right, really good food and service. kids will not like the food in the rila. we had a 5 year with us and he ate at venice with no problems. good pizza and spaghetti. you can also get ...

re: Hotel Rila - Food

Try the Samokov next year. Again evening food is not the best but it is certainly edible. Plenty of staff and tables always clean.

re: Hotel Rila - Food

We also stayed at the Rila and i agree with the comments made so far.The food is certainly crap and noise levels terrible if you are staying along the front .Slopes and instuctors very good.If we decide to go again it wont be at the Rila.
I had a look at the Samokov and agree it looks better. Sad
