Hi,
Myself and my family are off to borovets in feb. Is the hotel rila any good? Have heard both good & bad reports. As it is our first time, are there any tips we should know about the hotel ? Any advice/tips would be appreciated. Cheers!
We stayed in the Rila at Christmas/New Year and it was fine. I have noticed people seem to write varying reports on it, it is a large hotel, and we found it clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The food is OK, but it is very reasonable to eat out, so we tended to have one night eating at the hotel then out the next night. We took UK £ and changed them in the hotel and got the going rate. The Ski instruction was very good, our instructor was very patient - especially with me. ...
Hi
We stayed in the Rila at Christmas/New Year and it was fine. I have noticed people seem to write varying reports on it, it is a large hotel, and we found it clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The food is OK, but it is very reasonable to eat out, so we tended to have one night eating at the hotel then out the next night. We took UK £ and changed them in the hotel and got the going rate. The Ski instruction was very good, our instructor was very patient - especially with me. I had never skied before and really enjoyed it. You will have a good time I am sure, just don't expect a lot and remember the country you are in. We took a 17 and 14 year old and they had a great time too. One tip, take some air freshner - the room can get pretty smelly with all those socks and smelly ski gear drying out! Hope you enjoy your holiday - we would go back again!
Hotel is in a good position, great for families, a little basic but has all that you need. The food is not brilliant, but it is so cheap to eat out we found it not a problem, I am due out on sat with my girls, for the second year, feeling comfortableto to go on my own as my hubby is not able to come with us.

hi .we are going to the rila for the 3rd year at feb. midterm so it can,t be bad.we had a fabulous time the last two years. rila location is excellent. you can almost ski throught the door as our kids tried! pick up your gear at the hotel door,( not the one you use on arrival).first drag lift right beside you and the rest not a stones throw away.no long trek for the kids carrying their skis which was ideal.the ski school for us all was excellent the kids were well looked after and learnt quickly ,they are 11 and 8 now. they stay with their group all day from approx. 9.30 until 3.30-4pm,but don,t worry. give then a few lev every day for a lunch break and they will stop at a cafe with their instructor. don't worry about being back at the hotel in time for them after lessons as their instructor will stay with them until you arrive.we found they ( instructors)were never in a hurry to finish class. they can,t get lost as the rila is the centre of the resort.food is fine ,warm at 6pm but luke warm thereafter, plenty of choice. we ate out a few nights as it does get monotonous but eating out is cheap.try "alpine" ,francos pizza or white magic, plenty of decent places around. One hint bring a loo roll each you will see what i mean when you get there!! rila is clean, rooms are very comfortable and warm.no problem there.studios have a fridge,2 ring cooker and crockery. swimming pool is alot colder than here but kids didn't care.take new bank of england notes and change at hotel or bureau but ask first how much you will get before you part with your money. skidoo ride was brilliant ,it will be the dearest thing you do,kids loved it.
