Just back from a fantastic week in Borovets, it snowed continuallly and in the powder you could only just see Zoe's hat!
But a warning for those saying in the Samokov.
Some of our group had wallets and cash stolen from the room. After a hards day's skiing, one person had gone down to the swimming pool and sauna while the other soaked in the bath. meanwhile a sneak thief went into their room and took their wallets. Luckily most of their cash was in a safety deposit box, so it was only ...

Luckily most of their cash was in a safety deposit box, so it was only half their holiday money and credit cards taken, but still a great nuisance to cancel the cards, inform the rep and report to the police.
The rep said it had happened twice the week previous.
So lock those rooms at all times, even when you are in it!!!
We've all come back with really bad colds and flu, perhaps it is lying down in the wet snow or maybe there is a mysterious bg bug.

I came back with a really bad cold. A mate of mine that has been to Bulgaria numerous times always came back with a cold or flu and now refers to it as the Bulgaria Flu. I got back on 29th and it seemed that many people that got back on that date had it too!!!!re: Hotel Samokov - theft
Just got back yesterdfay from the samokovYes full of flu.
But interestingly also had my mobile phone stolen and when my husband phoned it someone answered in bulgarian and said they would hand it into the reception at the samokov.
NO SUCH LUCK

same happened to someone in my skiing group who was staying at the Samokov.they were having a shower, and when they got out they found their room door open and their wallet gone.
luckily, no credit cards and only 30 lev in there.
so the advice is always use the safety deposit boxes, and keep your wallet/valuables in sight at ALL times.

Yep, its common in Samakov. Happened to me last year and then to anouther of our group this year. You only get one key, so people kindly leave their door unlocked whilst in bath or shower, and roommate elswhere in hotel. Theres clearly a small group of theifs who watch out for this day and night and then pounce.

Sorry to hear your problems. I hope the tour operators advise people of these problems and if they put pressure on the Samokov then perhaps they will start to issue duplicate keys.The flu bug is rife here too! Flying often accelerates colds and flu and makes symptoms worse.
