We are staying at the Bor hotel. Can anyone tell me how long it will take to get to the piste and lifts. Thinking ski boots and the icy roads everyone is mentioning!!!
It's about ten minutes walk if it's icy to the gondola, where you'll probably be picking up you ski gear if you're not bringing your own. Or 2 mins in a cab, 10 lev or about £4.
Try going for a walk when you first arrive. They'll follow you about until you get in. Really, give it a go and see. Some people were complaining about this when I was over there. Try finding a cab in London and you'll appreciate it.

It's 10 levs. 20 for the horsies, but they sound more romantic than they are. They have bags under the rear of the horse, to keep the streets clean. Doesn't make for a pleasant ride.
We stayed at the Bor 2 weeks ago. Took a horse taxi which carries 4 people up to the gondola in the morning and it cost 10 lev each time (£4). It's not a bad walk up but we had children with us & it was a lot quicker when we were rushing to get to ski school on time!! There were always taxis waiting outside the hotel in the morning. Have a great time.
Forgot to say that you won't have your ski boots on as you leave them at the ski depot overnight. The Bor doesn't have any ski storage facilities. The icy road that everyone mentions is the one from the gondola up to the Rila hotel & nursery slopes. It is another 5 minutes walk uphill from the gondola and this time you will have your ski boots on.
When you get in resort, have a walk along the main street to see if the shop/ Bar owners have cleared the ice first before deciding if its worth the walk. as John said, plenty of taxis and horsies!
