How many greens in blues in Borovets

just had a look at the ski info on http://www.borovets-bg.com/data.aspx?i=12&p=6.
There isnt any mention of any green runs and only 1 blue? Can anyone who has skiid Borovets please confirm the situation? We have non skiers coming with us who will need a green to learn on surely????

Yep - the runs at the top of the Gondala are the best for beginners, and there is now a green that takes you right back down to resort.

Most first timers at Borovets can ski the easier reds at the top of the Gondala by the end of the first week as well.

The red runs in boro are in no way as difficult as the likes of the red runs in the alps etc. Bulgarian Black would be equivalent of reds in france, austria etc.

However dont underestimate thier difficulty. A beginner will get as much exhilaration on a good blue that totally scaring the pants off them on a red! I would personally ski anything but i was there with the g/f last year, also a fairly accomplished skier and she found the blacks out of her depth.

There is plenty of skiing for beginners, after all they only go at 5mph anyway!!!! (wee joke to all you virgins out there)

Take care

re: How many greens in blues in Borovets

Just got back from boro..
The green from the top of the gondola is a real treat if you are ok with fairly narrow paths. I loved it, like skiing through narnia, nothing very steep or scary but quite remote from the crowds and over bridges and things. Awesome. The little blue up there is fine too. Even the reds were nice and wide with good snow up on yastrebets.
The green from the top of the 4man chair by Hotel Rila wasn't so good, crowded and icey, but if you catch it earlier on the day ...

The green from the top of the 4man chair by Hotel Rila wasn't so good, crowded and icey, but if you catch it earlier on the day it's better. There is quite a lot of arm work and walking on it though. I'm not a very good skier and I found the blues from the top of the 4man chair near Rila a bit scary as they often lead into reds and were quite busy/icey. Up the gondola is best, get there early and beat the queues or go at lunchtime when it has calmed down!
hope that helps.

re: How many greens in blues in Borovets

Hi Mixu, Caroline was a beginner last year and got great pleasure from the main green run last year, this is a road down Sytnyakovo, she also started enjoying the few blue runs. This year I believe there is a Path down Yastrabets that has been made wider for skiing this year (green). They keep closing it temporarily though so fingers crossed! try www.borovets-bg.com/data.aspx?i=167&p=6
We cant wait til the 21st!!! Have fun
