I know this is possibly the daftest Q ever, but I'm seriously worried about the low temps outlook for next week..... so from those already there or who have been in recently in these cold times...just how many layers do you wear for skiing ??
I usually got a thermal + fleece plus my coat.... not sure how many extra layers are practical and allow for enough movement !!
OK please don't ridicule me too much !! but any practical advice as I start on the packing !!
Would really help me too, I found myself skiing in France in a T shirt last year, but with the current weather I'm not sure, will a Thermal, Fleece + Coat do? Got to compromise some 'Luxuries' for more layers if It's going to be chilly!
I tend to wear a thermal base layer and a comfortable top like a fleece type top and coat. I also carry a back pack so if I get to hot I take off my fleece top and stow it on the back pack.
we went to lapland last year and didnt get cold, despite our concerns before going. we wore thermal top, microfleece and coat. we also took long sleeved t shirts as an extra layer when needed. we wore thin socks plus ski socks, and thermal longjohns.
probably the most overlooked piece of clothing in my exp is a 'snood'/ neck gaitor that can be pulled up high enough to protect your face from the cold wind.
Out in both all last week and only needed a short sleeved t shirt with fleece on top then ski gear. This does tend to rely on how much you stand around.
Dbut
OK thanks all, very helpful, will just go for the usual then - plus one reserve layer.. just in case.... hopefully not too much standing around as long as the Q's arn't too bad !!
