How much snow do you need?

Hiya,

Going to Pamps on Sunday for my very first skiing holiday. I have been looking at the Snow Forecasts but was wondering how much snow you actually need to be able to ski on? Have people already started skiing in Pamps this year yet?... Keep having nightmares that it will all look like the mountains in the Sound of Music...

As a beginner you dont actually need very much. 30cm is plenty really. If the pistes are reasonably hard-packed, you dont care whats beneath the top 5-10cm. The piste bashers do a good job of scooping snow and packing it into pisted runs anyway. Dont be surprised if there isnt a flake of snow in the resort at all: we went in early march and there was bugger all, but up on Snezhanka there was loads!

Looks liek theryre forecast a bit tomorrow anyway.
