I Don't Do Snow Forecasts....

I very seldom if ever post information or take any notice of weather forecasts as over the years I have learned how totally useless and pointless they are.

However I will tell you this.
It will snow in all resorts this weekend.

Message ends.

Unfortunately for you Pete I read a post you made not so long ago when you talked to some friends in Bulgaria and gave a report. I was impressed and was a happy Bunny. I like honesty so dont be shy put us out of our misery Good or Bad.

Cheers

To what degree is in the hands of the Gods!
(I remember a few year ago I went with mates to Soll as part of the Ski welt System in Austria. All the reports until the night we left(inc the Ski club of GB etc) said the conditions were Sh*t. We had the best time ever, the snow was not great, but much better than reports would have suggested. As PP says, wait until you get there, do not base expectations on what others have reported (as good as they may be!), things change quickly!

re: I Don't Do Snow Forecasts....

Full report tomorrow Sheforlover. I will be in contact with people in Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo throughout tomorrow morning and hope to have something posted on here around lunchtime.

I don't expect to be reporting 1OO% positive stuff, but I also don't think it will be as bad as it is currently being portrayed.

re: I Don't Do Snow Forecasts....

PP, I totally agree with you in that snow forecast websites are a total waste of time other than on the day or maybe the day before going skiing.
Instead, I look at the various weather models based on the current prevailing pressure systems (direction, speed, intensity etc), temperatures, winds and the like. All these models change between 2 - 4 time daily and are far more reliable and accurate than any snow forecast website. The only catch is that it takes a bit of getting use to before ...

All these models change between 2 - 4 time daily and are far more reliable and accurate than any snow forecast website. The only catch is that it takes a bit of getting use to before being able to interpret them as they are usually nothing more than a series of different coloured lines.

PS: the current models are predicting snow for this weekend but only a very light dusting nothing more. Current models are also looking good for more substantial snow around the 20th January. However, that is still way too far ahead for the models to be accurate. Early next week will be a much better indication.

re: I Don't Do Snow Forecasts....

as hornster said, 20th onwards could be 'interesting' BUT and it is a BUT...as little as a change in weather circumstances over a 6 hour period can change everything fairly dramastically

The 3 day and 6 day "snow forcasts" rely on basic info and probably dont update their 3/6 day forcast to suite changing conditions in Europe. So please dont rely on them but listen to Horny, whoops i mean Hornster and Benson...they will give you the most accurate (based on date they have..so give them a ...

So please dont rely on them but listen to Horny, whoops i mean Hornster and Benson...they will give you the most accurate (based on date they have..so give them a break if they are wrong) forcast compared to 'for information only' weather sites. Coupled that with PP's resort reports and you have one of the best available information points on the net.

PS..it better snow after the 20th cos im on Boro lol
