....Well as the topic says. Going with a group some have ski gear some don't. So boots, skis, poles, helmet etc needed. So would
People advise hiring there and where or online before they go?
Basically what's cost effective and trusted?
Any help will be appreciated as trip is for this sat for a week. Roll on as looks like a few are going this sat ....YAY!
Way cheaper to hire there if you don't have your own stuff , as you'll pay to take it on the plane aswell which is about the same price for a weeks hire in Borovets. Look on Hunters ski website for prices of hire.
Looking now....reasonable including lift pass to. 194 Euros. Including lift pass.
Some of those going have concerns: If they wait till they are there before hiring: will there be a stock left to hire as
apposed to hiring online before guarantying equipment.
Plus is it by the rule cheaper to hire there on the day as apposed to using Hunters pre booking web option.
I personally have said that wait till your there don't panic but you know how it is.
There are shed loads of hire shops in resort, it is around 25% cheaper hiring in resort than with hiring before, also you will get better kit if you hire in resort, they DONT take a deposit on kit either.
A number of tour operators use the large hire points like Rila, Samakov hotels and the kit is old and very basic, Hunters are good, also behind Bobbys Bar is slightly more expensive but newer more up to date gear and if anything is wrong they will change it.
I would not necessarily agree that Hunters is more expensive. Go for one of the packages with a lift pass and I think you'll find them competitive. It's a bit horses for courses regarding the equipment. If you can't ski then you don't need a brand new pair of skiis. Depending on what time of day etc you arrive you might not want to spend too long shopping around to hire. I suspect but I might be wrong that buying a weekly lift pass in advance as part of a package may be a cheaper way of ...

Put it this way, having it all sorted before you get there is a lot less hassle.
If any of your group need lessons then definitely book in advance. Otherwise those who have booked else in advance end up being forced to wait around for ages while the latecomers get sorted with equipment and put in a suitable group, which is then larger than it should be and with mixed abilities until another instructor is drafted in to help out.
