If I did ski??

Going to Borovets on 15th February for one week. I haven't pre-booked the ski school and the ski hire as my husband and sons have. I was planning not to ski. However if I did decide to ski (haven't skied for 23 years and I am overweight) could I just hire some skies and side step up one of the slopes..I am not very adventurous and wouldn't want to go too high and feel I wouldn't need a lift pass. Would this be possible? I would welcome any comments Regards

You do not need a lift pass to walk up the nursey slopes and ski down. But I would imagine that it would be tough going. The drag lifts on the nursey slopes require ski pass. Ski hire is available by the day. Lift passes are available by half days after midday. In Borovets you can ski by flood light with a night time pass 5:30 pm to 9pm I think it cost 22Lev for a week. It is an option but see how you feel when out there. Check out the costs onsite your husband and son could check out your ...

Relax about it and decide after a couple of days.

Louise - go for it Exclamation Once you are out there you will probably get the bug again Very Happy

You can hire equipment by the day and the main slope outside the Rila is probably the best slope to side step up and is a wide gentle slope. There is a drag lift there but you will need a lift pass, which you can buy from half day to full day. How about having a few private lessons to kick start you again Question There are bars/restaurants to the side at the bottom of the slope, where you could sit outside ...

There is a drag lift there but you will need a lift pass, which you can buy from half day to full day. How about having a few private lessons to kick start you again Question There are bars/restaurants to the side at the bottom of the slope, where you could sit outside with a hot toddy and watch when you've had enough. I use the Avalanche restaurant when I have had enough, where they look after me, ask for Todor. The kids ski down to me, then go back off on the chair lift, whilst I socialise and sunbathe, if it's sunny.

The cheapest way to hire equipment and lift passes is through tour operator, so I always book a beginners pack, then do my own thing when I'm there. You also need a lift pass to go up on the gondola, which is worthwhile even just for the views. If you do a search on here, daily prices have been posted before.

You will see all ages, sizes and shapes, even with some of the instructors Exclamation so relax, have a go and ENJOY. Very Happy Very Happy
