Please consider the following if you have booked a package holiday, but intend to use independant means of transfer.
1. Inform your rep on arrival at the airport that this is your intention. We were held up at Sofia airport for an hour once because the rep could not find 2 passengers. They had gone off and hired a taxi without telling anyone!

2. Make sure your travel insurance covers you. Your tour company has a duty to ensure your safe passage to your final destination, and if you choose your own means of transport your insurance may not cover you if you encounter any personal injury or loss whilst in transit.
3. Negotiate any costs before you set out, and get the driver to WRITE IT DOWN (Cost per person or cost for the entire group.) There have been many instances of a fee of 100 levs being agreed, but on arrival the driver insists it's 100 levs per person.
