Sometimes I wish I'd never found this forum. I have read nothing but doom and gloom about the weather and the hotel we're going to (Hotel Pamporovo)
I've even got to the point of becoming obsessed with checking in here several times a day to see if the snow has started!

Today I phoned up Crystalski to change accomodation as I found even more shockingly bad reports about the hotel posted on Tripadvisor. But all they could say was I could cancel my holiday and rebook at the cost of losing 100% of what I'd already spent
All I wanted was to move to a different hotel!!!!
I reckon if I was ignorant to all this stuff I'd have just gone along and muddled through thinking "ah well, better luck next time" but as it is I'm not looking forward to it much now I know what to expect!
I don't want to sound ungrateful for all the good advice people post on here because some of it is fab to know, all I'm doing really is having a good winge.
Thanks for listening.
Debs, take all you have heard, wrap it in a neat parcel, then throw it in the bin!
Hotel Pamporovo offers high standard accomodation as good as anything you will find in Pamporovo. The building work opposite is minimal and will not affect your holiday in the slightest.
Too many go to Bulgaria expecting Spanish style hotels and lush accomodation. It simply does not match that - thank goodness.
Go with an open mind and you will not be disappointed.
If fact, my money is on you coming ...

The first year that I went I read many very negative reports about the Perelik, we went expecting the worst and were pleasantly surprised, we are going back for the third year running in Feb. I haven't stayed at the Pamporovo but have visited the doctor there and had a good look around. It seems like a very nice hotel, the staff were friendly and polite and the public rooms were lovely. Some people have complaints but they are the minority if you consider the amount of people who stay there ...

Some people have complaints but they are the minority if you consider the amount of people who stay there each week. People who have good experiences don't tend to share as freely as those who don't. At the end of the day, snow willing, we spend so little time in the hotel that its not worth worrying over. I am sure you will have a wonderful time and join the a lot of us in a love affair with Bulgaia and be rebooking for 2008.

Went to Boro last year and stayed at the Edelweiss which was pretty basic but we had a great time so I know standards aren't at usual western European level. Maybe I've just developed into a worrier (t'internet's got a lot to answer for!!!!!)
Well, we'll be at arriving on 27th Jan so hopefully see some of you there!
