We arrived Saturday - skiiing is possible, but obviously more snow is needed.
The gondola is open, but you can only ski to the middle station, so there are large queues to get back down at the end of the day - we waited 45mins today at the middle station from 4pm.... Conditions up at the top are great though, and it's lovely and sunny -very warm too.

Hello from Borovets
We arrived Saturday - skiiing is possible, but obviously more snow is needed.
The gondola is open, but you can only ski to the middle station, so there are large queues to get back down at the end of the day - we waited 45mins today at the middle station from 4pm.... Conditions up at the top are great though, and it's lovely and sunny -very warm too.
We went up Martinovi Baraki this morning (Rila chairlift) - but it was very icy, and our instructor said he won't take us up there again this week. The green road down is unskiable (no snow at all, just ice, mud and road!). The black run is covered in thick ice - haven't seen anyone risk it yet! The reds are all open, but icy, with mud and grass showing through in places, with the odd stone/rock to avoid.
The snow cannons are not operating as it is too hot.....
The Rotata drag is not open (blue run at the end of the green run) - so beginners are restricted to the nursery slope by the Rila, or the green at the top of the gondola until they are ready to chance the Iglika drag or the runs at the top of the gondola.
The Sitnyakovska chairlift was cloesed yesterday but is open today. The Ystrabetz chairlift is closed since there is insufficient snow from the mid station of the gondola.
Surprisingly, the queues for the open lifts are not too bad - even this morning when the gondola was shut for maintenance. We are having plenty of skiing on reds up the top. Our friends who are in begginners are doing well on the available nursery slopes. It's not as good as we had hoped (we booked last March and have been excited all year!) but we are having a great time anyway.
No snow forecast for at least a week but conditions are still ok!
Think that covers everything......my 30mins is almost up!!
Yes, the red at the top of the gondola has an easy route round if you dont fancy the steep bit, in fact the hardest thing is probably the drag lift, i am in deed a svelt 90kgs and the damn thing lifts me off the floor!!!!! .
Me too..... I am 5'1 and and weigh 53kg and it gets me each time..... .off the floor!!!! Have to concentrate to stay on... much easier skiing down the reds..... Yvette
