Info about Bansko

Hi all, I need some hints for Bankso from people that have been there from the UK.
Which is the best airport to fly to ?
Is there a bus-train that gets you to the resort ?
Is there any web site that I can check for accomodation (I don't look for luxuries) ?
Any recommendation regarding hotels-apartments (close to the slopes) ?
What are the opening hours of the slopes ?

Many thanks !
Booze

re: Info about Bansko

Either Sofia or Plovdiv - if you don't go for luxuries then choose Plovdiv!!
Not sure about bus/train - we get coach transfer.
This website or just type in Bansko accomodation on search engine!
None that near to slopes but hotels near to gondola lift - Grand Kempinski next door to gondola lift but 5star.

Its best to fly to Sofia its bugger and its half an hour less to get to basko than plovdiv. There will be a bus/coach that will take you to bansko and I strongly reccomend the strazhite its a great hotel and is only about 5 mins walk to the gondola station and lessons begin at around 10 and finish around 4 but you cud probs stay til it begins to go dark !!!!

Don't try and book the strazhite if you are going on the 27th or 28th though - you'll probably have to share a bed !!

There are plenty of apartment for rent on this site. The company managing these apartments will arrange to collect you and your group at the airport. I would recommend the Mont Blanc apartments whicch are within 5-7 min walk of the gondola and across from Sir Galahads Pub which can be good craic but you dont hear any noise from it in the apartment building.

re: Info about Bansko

Hi,
I have an apartment in bansko - I always fly from heathrow with Hemus air if possible. last minute flights can be cheaper with last minute.com
Bansko is huge you need to decide your location carefully send me an e-mail if you want some info.
I have never used the coach because the taxis and car hire is very reasonible.
I would like to know where the coach station is.
