I always thought hired gear was insured as part of your hire package ........ I know for the last couple of years I have hired board etc for little man and all insurance was included in hire price

re: Insuring hired kit
Hey Dona,
No more hiring for Logan !! The ££ went into my account - Thank You. Would You send me a picture please of the board when it's pimped ??
On the subject of insurance, maybe Stoo is talking about insuring against theft ? A group of us were in La Plagne a few years ago and on the last night two boards and a set of skis were taken from outside the room --( We all know what hire equipment is worth) when we went to the hire shop they wanted 400 euros per set !!!

So the answer to your question Stoo is that the hire equipment is worth very little but if you want to insure against theft i would consider a sum of £500 per person.
I stand corrected on this if anyone knows the facts...
No most certainly don't need to hire for Logan any more lol ...... thanks sooooo much for letting me have it ....... glad pennies went in ok ....... dropped the board off to be pimped up 2nite think the guy is gonna have a field day bless him he is talking about spraying the bindings and allsorts so it all matches ...... he seems very creative and enthusiastic.
When I did hire Logans gear it was insured against everything theft, loss, damage ...... maybe I was just lucky with the company ...

The ski option on travel insurance includes cover if your hired kit is lost, stolen or damaged. The amount seems to vary from £200 to £500. The outfit we're hiring from has an option for insurance at E2 /day, but I noticed it was in the travel insurance package so thought we could do without it... so long as the amount is sensible.
I guess if the hire company has your credit card details you're not in a good bargaining position so £500 would be a safer option.
