re: Is There Snow forecast

well if the freezing level is below your snow it means that it is freezing where you are skiing / boarding.

If the 0 C line is above your snow level it is most probably melting below your feet.

The relevance of knowing where the freezing level is likely to be is a varied one really. Generally, you want it to be below freezing for long period of time so that the fresh snow has time to consolidate before the thaw, higher temperatures arrive, which will melt some of the snow. This freeze-thaw effect is crucial to a good solid snow pack.

Hope that helps and happy skiing! Very Happy

Cheers Hornster,
Understand the relevence a little better now. I guess its a matter of timing as well. you dont want to be boarding on ice yet dont want it to melt either. I say let it snow loads and ice low at night. Especially all next week!Very Happy

Cheers!
