For a long time I've fancied a des res (1-2 bedroom appt) in a ski resort, but its always been a pipe dream. However, with the current financial crisis are property prices in places like Bansko more affordable and is it a good thing to do? Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers Charlie
The short answer is yes... Prices, especially in re-sales are at or just above the build price, around 450E per metre... Bargains even cheaper are available, but position may be not quite so good. We have been looking for a home for about 3 years, houses here in Bansko still maintain a high price (Bulgarians do not appreciate that prices can fall), so we have considered an apartment, but we hung on thankfully, having now secured a house in a village just 12km away, 2 year old, potentially a 4 bed with 2 bathroom, freehold with land, needs finishing, plastering (internal), flooring, connecting internal plumbing and small electrics to complete, and finally decoration and furnish... which we should be able to cover for about 10,000 Euro, the initial purchase price was 17,000 Euro... so you appreciate, a bit of a bargain
