re: Is it worth learning some of the lingo???

I believe that wherever anyone travels they should make an attempt at the local lingo - even if only please and thank you - manners go a long way and I have made sure my son could say those two words wherever in the world we have been. Alot of people say 'merci' for thank you in BG. I have looked up lists in the past and print off to learn a little before going or take with me - always find loads on Net for whatever country - I enjoyed Swahili for Kenya this year and want to learn more!! ...

Unlike in most European countries, Bulgarians shake their head for "yes" and nod for "no". Very unusual, but can be real fun!

Spice - another tip - unlike in most European countries, Bulgarians shake their head for "yes" and nod for "no". Different and has prob caused endless problems with misunderstandings in the past!
