Just Back From Pamps. My Report

Just back from Pamps yesterday after a great weeks skiing with PP and his group. After skiing in BG for over 20 years I can honestly say the snow and conditions were the best I've ever skied, not just in BG but all the other places I've skied (France, Austria, Italy etc.) it was just amazing. When Pamporovo is like this there is nowhere in the world that can match it.

Pete has already posted his report so I will not repeat comments on the Hotel Mourgavets, only to say I agree with what he said.

Prices in resort and on the slopes.

Difficult to judge, due to the whole place being so quiet. In town the only bar open was the White Hart and the prices were the same as last year, 5 lev large beer and 3 lev for a BG brandy or vodka etc., imported drinks very expensive so don't buy them!

Again on the slopes most places closed but I always use Peter's Irish bar anyway, where the prices are very reasonable and the food is very good.

Bought another bell, number 16! Ludwig is a legend and I honestly believe they bring you luck, after 22 years skiing never had a bad injury!... (don't do no harm having a bit of gipsy good fortune in your corner!)

The guys in the ski depot are still great! (Mitco, Michael etc.) Miserable looking bunch I know but just talk to them and get to know them and they'll look after you big style. Nothing is to much trouble for them.

Ski instructors, I feel are still the best in the world. Most skiers who booked lessons were on a one to one basis as there were more instructors than skiers!

The biggest problem I feel is the 4 hour transfer from Sofia. If the tour operators do not re start using Plovdiv I fear the worse for Pamps and only the die-hards will continue to go.

On a final note thanks to Pete and Angie for a great week. It was a pleasure to ski with you both.

Angie you are amazing, a very stylish, glamorous and sophisticated lady. Also a beautiful skier.

Pete a true gent, always thinking of others and nothing is to much trouble for him. A technically good skier, no racer but can ski down anything with snow on it!

Will I be back?...... You can bet your life on it!

Hi Pete,

Will try to make the meet! Be nice to meet up again! All depends on my sons Warwickshire cricket commentments. If free I'll be there.

Trev - Angie has asked me to add - she loved skiing with you especially in the blizzard. Nobody on the mountain could get down as quick as you so we are both giving up the fags in an effort to keep up with you next year Razz

And as for the Chicken jump - after watching you do it I was just that - Chicken Very Happy

Hope to see you in May.

Pete & Angie x
