Back today, flight due to land at Bristol diverted to Exeter but it could have been worse...
OK, snow in the village is a few inches. Last Tuesday it was thawing fast but then there was 4-6 inches overnight and that is still there, but no more since other than a sprinkling here and there.
On the mountain it's about the same. It was really icy at the beginning of the week, and got pretty slushy too, not much cover on a poor base, but after the snowfall on Tuesday night things improved ...

I'm pretty much a green-run-gal, but my son tackled most runs bar the wall which was closed - at least I only saw a very few people on it and the lift wasn't working at the side.
All the other lifts were working - except for the 3man chair from the bottom up to the tower yesterday as it broke down. This meant queues for the single chair were horrendous and people were bussed out to ski centre #1 to the 4man chair. Queues were pretty long for the 3man lift from Stoudenets up to the top.
I stayed at the Orlovets - very nice hotel except for the food but that was tolerable. Very good staff and customer service, they couldn't do enough for you. Had a good meal at Eureka down the bank opposite the Perelik and also at the Italian one evening. The Orlovets was offering an exchange rate of 2.81 which is better than the Alaska supermarket at 2.76.
Didn't go in for much apres ski as was with 2 young teens, one of whom broke a wrist snowboarding on the second day after slipping on the ice on the blue run above Magnolia. (A girl did a knee on that same patch the next day.) He had to carry on down to the middle station where we went to the medical centre. The doctor there was efficient if abrupt, X-rays dried on the radiator, minimal plaster on the top of the arm and a bit of bandage, but it did the job I suppose. 2 follow-up appointments and 145 lev (being the equivalent of my £50 insurance excess).
Nice report Froggy - EXACTLY what this board needs - pretty spooky really but I've posted a couple of appeals over the last couple of days for reports just like this.
I think we all agree that this is much better than millions of forecasts and 'so-called experts' telling us what it is like!
Well done..
Thanks for this, I'm out next sat and desperate for any news. Good or bad just want to know realistically is going on.
Here hoping for another dump of the white stuff

From wed things changed when the whole place turned white (fantastic) I mainly stuck to the green but under tuition tackled the blue a few times and the red once with as much grace and speed as an elephant although i thought my ski instructor was a bit bossy he did make me push myself (sorry milan) he does not like you to laugh to much only smile.
We went with balken hols when you get ski fitting double check they get the bindings right my husband where to loose and lost his skis a few times before they got it sorted if you are not happy keep pestering till they get it right. anyone going out from now on hope you have a great time its a beautifull place and i hope you meet as many people as my family have and hope it snows .
Cheers for writing a decent report... So much of this board is taken up by drivel that the good topics are few and far between, and when they do appear they are often hard to find. I'm off to Pamporovo on the 13th and with the situation as it is, I hope they've put on plenty of non-snow related activities!
