Well got back last night from Hotel Rila and i thought i would give some friendy advise. Take a Kettle and some pot noddles as if you arrive in on a late flight, yes they do provide you with food, but it has been sat there for a while and everyone is queing at the same time this goes for the following morning aswell. Everyone gets up early wanting a long day on the slope which meant the que was down the stairs and back past the reception. Be prepared to que to get your boots and boards/skis this is only of the first day, we took ours back to the room after the 3rd day we found this easier. DONT let the people charge any more than 5 lev for waxing we suggest taking the correct money in as they will try there luck. Try to request a higher floor than the first, as the noise from the night club and bars can keep you awake but try to be light footed as the people below can hear every footstep. Yes there are ladys!! of the night in the reception but they are not too much bother and the hotel night club puts on a chippendale night every wednesday. Beware the night club is the most expensive place in the resort 5 lev for a beer. The room is like a travel lodge but the maids don't clean the sink or bath and the towels are only changed when made wet and placed in the bath. The last 2 days our hot running water was a dark brown colour and the only thing we could think was that there was rust in the tank also try and have a shower or bath before 6.00pm as the water can be cold after that. Please don't get me wrong the value for money is ok and our group of 4 has the best fun snowboarding and drinking, we only slept in the room which was good enough for us, we just wanted to let you know.

Food:-
The very very best food for adults and kids is on the left hand side of the slope right in front of the Rila, it is called The Golden Horn and had green rope lights outside. Everywhere else was bland and warm, we had pepper steaks for 9 lev and they are to die for they have pizza, jacket potatoes and the garlic bread is great and don't forget the tomato and garlic sauce. The guy to ask for is Ilko and please let him know that you were recomended by the 4 people who loved the pepper steaks and eat there everyday.

Cheapest fun:
Go out of the Rila, turn left and buy a sledge for 5 lev an hour and throw yourself down the black run, about 4 in the afternoon is best cause most people have gone in then.

Have a great holiday we did.

H going sat 17 as well, to the studios. Anything we should take to make the saty more comfortable?

Did you happen to notice the cost of kids ski school on your travels.

thanks

re: Just Back from Hotel Rila

The water probably wasn't brown from rust in the tank, it is most likely brown from the peat in Borovets, as it is the same in Torquay and parts of Scotland.

I stayed in the Rila at the same time as you and there were ups and downs but overall I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
