Flew back from Bansko yesterday after a great week skiing. The weather was sunny for most days. Monday was a write off due to high winds but the rest of the week was great.
Stayed at the Perun which I really enjoyed, only two problems, I thought the breakfast selection was poor, and the walk to Pirin Street is bleak!! Otherwise I enjoyed my stay at the hotel.
The skiing was good and the instructor - Irina - was the best instructor I have had, really explained everything well.

If you are gong out, take a few levs for the first day or so and sterling as the exchange rate was better, even in the hotel.
For restaurants g to the old town andmost of the Mehanas are very good, especially around the old square. there were two I liked at the bottom of the square by the fountains. Also a bar diagonally across form the icer rinl (opposite Bansko Plaza signs) I went in a ocuple of times and was the only non-Bulgarian in there, didn't try the food but a Bulgarian couple I got talking to recommended the food. Also recommendations from people in my ski group for the friendly Pub.
Try the ice rink, it is small but good fun and quiet in he evenings.
Just two gripes - the walk from the Perun to Pirin St (see above) and the queues for the Gondola lit. It opens at 8:30 so try and get there before 8:50, after that there are large queues. Also try and check if there are events going on as this increases the queuing time at the Gondola lift.
But overall a very enjoyable stay, I particularly like being able to ski down the ski road back to the town and the slopes are graet for an internediate like me, lots that are a bit more difficult than the last.

Hi Trouble
Glad you had a great time in Bansko. I am curious about the comment re: breakfast in the Perun. Have stayed there twice and thought it was a super hotel. Did not go last year as stayed with friends in an appt. When we were there the breakfast was cereals, various fruit, little cakes, hot food - sausages and so on and two lovely ladies who made fantastic omelettes and would also do eggs any other way you wished - fried, scrambled and so on. There was different bread for toasting if you wish. Goodness what we ate used to keep us going most of the day so has it changed - what did you find lacking???
As with all of my comments, these are just my personal views. Yes, there is a large selection of food but, for example, the cereals were porridge oats, a chocolate cereal and something else. There wasn't much there I liked apart from the fruit. Evening meals were fine. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and I would stay there again.
